Q. Why should I use a steam cleaning company vs dry clean?
A. The dry carpet cleaning method centers around the use of potentially harsh chemicals. In addition, residue from those chemicals may still reside in the carpet, affecting pets and people who suffer from breathing-related conditions such as asthma.
Another reason the dry cleaning method is inferior to steam cleaning is that this chemical process does not clean the carpets completely; as the chemicals cannot get all the way through the carpet fibers. While it may look good initially, dirt will quickly work its way back up to the surface and you will need your carpets cleaned more frequently as a result.
Q. What kind of cleaning method and equipment do you use?
A. Two Dudes uses a van mounted steam cleaning machine performing hot water extraction. We follow that up with a powerful vacuum suction to retrieve the moisture. This cleaning method is recommended by most carpet cleaning manufacturers and the IICRC.
Q. How long does it take to clean my carpets?
A. Expect around 25 minutes per room, plus customer walkthrough, and setup/teardown preparation. This time can vary greatly depending on the amount of furniture that needs moved, condition of the carpet, and any necessary spot/stain. Most jobs are a half day or under project.
Q. Do I need to vacuum before Two Dudes Arrives?
A. Please don’t unless you can’t resist. Vacuuming is the first step of our process and is one of the things that sets us apart from the competition. We use hepa filtration which will not only suck up the dirt from your carpet, but will also greatly improve your indoor air quality. Relax, go surf the web or read a book and let the dudes take care of you!
Q. Will Two Dudes move my furniture?
A. Absolutely, there is no charge to move furniture. After the cleaning is done we place blocks and tags under it so that it doesn’t re-stain your carpet. We do ask that you remove expensive and sentimental items from harms way.
There are exceptions (“boo, hiss”, Sorry!) that we cannot move, including: pianos, flat screen tvs, china cabinets, armoirs, etc.
Q. Will you be able to remove all the spots and stains from my carpet?
A. We are able to remove most spots and stains, but cannot guarantee they will all come out. The reasons for this include age of carpet, wear patterns, and if the carpet has stains that permanently discolor the carpet fibers, like bleach for example.
Q. How long will it take for my carpet to dry?
A. It will usually take between 2-4 hours of dry time before the carpet is dry to the touch. It varies due to humidity levels, but expect longer times in the summer if the AC is on, and lower times in the colder months.
POLICIES & SAFETY
Q. Am I required to be at home while you clean my carpets?
A. We do not require anyone be present at the time of cleaning. However, for safety reasons an adult must be present if there are children at home during cleaning.
Q. Is the cleaning agents Two Dudes uses safe for my children and/or pets?
A. Safety is our number one priority. We only use cleaning solution that are equivalent to laundry detergent, as hot water does most of the cleaning. As a general rule though, you will want to keep your young children and pets from lying or playing on wet carpet.
Q. How long should I wait until myself and others walk on the carpet again?
A. It would be best to limit your activity on the clean carpet for the first hour or so of drying time, but it may be walked upon with clean socks or clean shoes while wet.
Be sure and take care when transferring from the damp carpet to a tile or hardwood floor that you don’t slip.
Q. What guarantee do I have that I will be satisfied with your services?

Q. My carpet's looked great when you left, but now they appear dirty again, what gives?
A. This happens to the best of carpet cleaner’s, and is commonly referred to as wick-back. Meaning that some of the substances in the carpet backing has wicked up to the surface. Our cleaning process almost eliminates this issue, however if you ever experience this please give us a call and we will come back for a re-clean for free within 14 days.
Q. How often should I have my carpets cleaned?
A. This would depend on personal preference and situation, but homes with children, pets, or large families will need more frequent cleanings. Some carpet manufacturers require carpet cleaning every 12-18 months to keep the warranty in effect. Commercial cleaning often needs to be set up on a regular maintenance program in order to properly maintain it.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. We accept cash, checks and all major debit/credit cards except American Express.
Q. What are your payment terms?
A. We generally like to collect after service is completed. We can setup payment arrangements ahead of time, contact you after the job is done to process payment, or if you prefer leave an invoice. If it’s the latter we ask that you make a prompt payment via check, or we also offer secure and convenient online bill pay right from our website. Q. Why do you charge by the square foot instead of rooms or areas like other companies?
A. Good question! This goes back to our policy of all inclusive pricing. We found it confusing and misleading with the per room up to so many square feet, with many times companies charging for closets! This pricing method insures that you only pay for what you get and no less.
